The photos don't look too different this week, but quite a bit of progress has been made. The plumbers got the rough-in plumbing done (as you can see by the torn-up concrete floor), the mechanical contractor got his work complete, and today the electrician is still working on all of the wiring - although we are beginning to have a lot more light down in the basement! It looks like we will have the first inspection next week and then on to insulation and drywall!

23 weeks!
No photos today, but I thought I would post a quick note about our check-up at the OB today. Tomorrow is 23 weeks into my pregnancy! Since they are going to let me deliver at 39 weeks that means there's only 16 left to go....wow, that doesn't seem like very much. I really hope this construction in the basement gets done quickly so that we can get the baby's room set up.
The visit at the doctor was uneventful - just the way we like it. The baby's heartrate was good and my blood pressure was good as well. I gained 6lbs. in the last 4 weeks. (maybe I should re-think the ice cream at bedtime thing....) but the doctor says my weight gain is right on schedule since I didn't gain much the first trimester. The belly is getting pretty big - we'll have to take some photos soon. We haven't been as good at taking progress photos this time around!

Trip to Pittsburgh
Last weekend we visited our dear friends Kristin, Shawn & baby Ansley in Pittsburgh. We were so excited to meet the new member of their family and see their home. It was a short fun weekend that made us realize how much we miss them and wished they lived closer!
Sweet Little Ansley!

We took a trip to the zoo and the kids both fell asleep on the way there. We were laughing about us 4 adults pushing sleeping kids around the zoo!

Shawn, Kristin & Ansley in front of the elephants. (we also got to see 2 baby elephants!)

Construction - end of week 1
Before
Construction on our basement started this week. What used to be a huge concrete storage room will soon be 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a family room. This week has been interesting trying to work upstairs in my office while framers shoot nail guns into the concrete in the basement...I'm sure my coworkers are curious when they hear the "gunshots" on my conference calls! Here is what our basement looked like last weekend. I'll post some more photos of what it looks like at the end of the week.
Wash those germs away!

Rainy weekend in the mountains

Last weekend we had originally planned to go camping in the Rocky Mountain National Park, but when we found out on Friday that the weather was going to be both cold AND rainy (high of 45 during the day and into the freezing temps at night) we changed our minds. I don't think John was looking forward to the prospect of spending a whole day in a small tent with a pregnant woman and a 2-year old! Luckily Mom & Mike's condo in the mountains was open so we went up there for a weekend of relaxation. We didn't really do much except swim at the indoor pool, watch Olympics, and eat! (It did clear up on Sunday for a while to try out the new playground by Lake Dillon - you'll see Isaac enjoying it in the photos!)

Temper Tantrum
We are beginning to see what the term "terrible two's" means....We have been trying to get Isaac to work on his speech lately and the other night I decided that I wouldn't give him his pre-dinner sippy cup of milk until he said "milk". Not too evil of a mother - eh? So, he didn't want to say it and I just put the milk up on the table for him to have with dinner. Dinnertime rolled around and he still didn't want to say "milk". Even though we were having his favorite - breakfast for dinner (pancakes & bacon) - he proceeded to throw a fit in his seat. I told him he could get down from the table and he threw himself on the floor and into a 20 minute tantrum. Afterward he decided that he was in fact hungry and sat up and ate all his dinner - but not his milk. That stubborn little guy still wouldn't say the word "milk". He said "juice please" because that is what I was drinking - so he had that instead. Hmmmm....I wonder where he gets his stubborness from???

Camp Colorado
Every year Mom & Mike bring the grandkids out to their condo in Colorado for "Camp Colorado". On Friday Isaac & I got to come up and join them - Isaac had so much fun with his Kansas cousins. (Baby Finley was the only one who didn't get to come - she's too little!) Friday night the kids had a blast in the pool and on Saturday we went to ride the Georgetown - Silver Plume Train. John drove up to meet us for the train. Isaac was having some "two-year-old" moments, but I think he enjoyed it - I know we all did. Saturday night it was more playing and swimming at the condo - Isaac is going to miss his cousins!

Fun in the rain
Last night we had what seems like our first big rain storm of the summer - it has been very dry here! Isaac was just standing at the window in awe - watching it like he had never seen rain before. So...I took him out on the porch to see it. He had so much fun sticking his hands out in the rain and then running to show me that his hands were all wet! At least it was nice to find out that he isn't scared of thunder! Here are some of our silly photos from last night.

Little feet

Today we had our 20 week ultrasound - the baby measured out right on size and everything looked great as far as we could tell (the report will be back from our doctor in a couple days, but the ultrasound tech told us everything looked good). Here's a photo of the little feet - we could even count the 10 toes! Amazing!

That little boy always makes us laugh!
Last night after dinner John and I were cleaning up and Isaac was entertaining himself by playing underneath the desk in our kitchen - he likes to hide under there sometimes. Before we knew it, he had gone into the living room, retrieved a pillow and blanket and made himself a little bed under there - complete with fake snores!
It seems like Isaac's imagination is growing everyday and it is so fun to watch! Yesterday after naptime we were playing in his room and he was playing with his toy tool bench. After a while he took the plastic screwdriver over to his bed, tucked it into one of his pillowcases and told me to "sshhhhh" - apparently it was naptime for the screwdriver!
