Lately

August has been a month full of changes at the Nap house.  John recently left the firm he's been working for since he moved to Dallas all those years ago to start a new firm here in Denver with another architect friend.  We are so excited about this new opportunity and direction for his career.  With several contract projects already underway and several new projects on the horizon, Path21 Architecture is off to a great start!  If you're curious about the new firm, you can check them out at www.path21arch.com.  My career also is taking a new turn.  Today was my last day after 10 years with GES.  It hasn't been an easy decision, but quitting my job is one that we both truly believe will benefit our family.  I'm really looking forward to being home with the kids.  Isaac started full-day Kindergarten this week, another big adjustment in our house.  He loves his new school and is excited to get up and go every morning.  Even homework is fun right now.  As for Tessa, she is getting used to the new schedule too and I am looking forward to spending more one on one time with her while Isaac is in school.  Beatrix is growing and changing every day and recently starting rolling over.  I think it's not long until she's crawling all over the place. 

So that's just a quick update on the happenings around here lately....as usual things have been crazy, busy, but full of fun and love.  We wouldn't have it any other way!

And just like that....he's off to Kindergarten!  So proud of you Isaac!  There were no tears this morning...only excitement.  He came into our room this morning with only one word "School!".  Can't wait to hear about his day!

4 months

Here's some photos of our little Beatrix at 4 months. This happy little girl is constantly smiling and is now on the move....last weekend she started rolling over. I'm afraid it won't be long before she is chasing her big brother and sister around!

Look who's ready for football season!

3 months

How can it be that it's already been 3 months since Beatrix joined our family? This little baby is truly living up to her name. Beatrix means "one who brings happiness" and that's pretty much a perfect description for our little girl. She's recently found her voice and loves being talked to. Luckily between mom, dad, brother & sister she's hardly ever without someone to entertain her. When she does have a little quiet time, however, she's perfectly content to stare up at her dancing bears or play with some soft toys (she's recently figured out those hands are good for doing more than just going in her mouth). Although she still isn't fond of the bottle, she's turning into a champion sleeper (8-9 hours at a time during the night). Here's a few photos of our smiley little girl!

Six

It's hard to believe our little boy is six years old. It doesn't seem like that long ago he was our only little one and now he's such an incredible big brother to two very lucky sisters.  Our six year old is getting ready for kindergarten in the fall and amazing us every day with his growing curiousity and knowledge of numbers, letters, reading, writing.  He's our helpful, thoughtful and empathetic child, always making sure that everyone is ok.  Just in the past year, his sense of humor has started to shine, and we always have a smile for his sarcasm.  We will always remember this birthday with the photos of his "wiggle-teeth", sticking out awkwardly, but not quite ready to come out,  and the day before his birthday spent at the dentist office getting two of his little baby teeth pulled to make room for new ones.  Such a brave boy, always ready to take on whatever life might have in store.  

Happy Birthday Isaac - your dad and I are so lucky to call ourselves your parents.  Hope you enjoyed your Lego/WaterFun/Superman party and here's to another wonderful year!

First Hike

We took Beatrix on her first hike last week.  Some of our friends were camping in the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, so we joined them for the day to enjoy the mountains.  Fortunately the wind wasn't blowing smoke our way that day and we got to enjoy a great afternoon hike.

2 months!

I can't believe it's been 2 months since we were blessed with baby Beatrix!  Our little one is changing every day.  We go to her 2 month appointment next week so it will be interesting to see how much she's grown.  I weighed her on our scale the other night and she was just over 10.5 pounds.  She continues to be a pretty easy-going baby and loves to interact with her family.  She's getting used to being on the go as she gets carried around to all of her older siblings events.  We even managed a road trip to Kansas a couple of weeks ago and she did great.  As you can see from the photos she has got the smiling thing down really well and we have even got a couple of giggles.  She's trying really hard to make sounds and manages to get a "coo" out once in a while.  We've been really lucky with her sleeping - she's sleeping about 7 hours straight each night which gives John and I some much needed rest as well, as I started back to work this week.  We love watching her change everyday, but we hope she doesn't grow up too fast!

The Graduate!

Last weekend was a busy one!  In addition to the bike ride, Isaac also graduated from preschool.  Aunt Winnie & Uncle Harry (here from Holland) and Oma got to attend with us.  I can't believe our little boy will be going to kindergarten in the fall!

Elephant Rock

We spent part of last weekend at Elephant Rock in Castle Rock, CO.  On Saturday night we had fun watching the professionals race through downtown with Winnie, Harry & Oma!

Then on Sunday morning we cheered on Isaac & John as they rode the 8 mile Elephant Rock Ride with Team Zimbabwe - a mission that supports orphans in Zimbabwe.  Thanks to all of you that contributed to John's fundraising!!!
